The vast majority of our questions display medications in this format: generic (brand). However, there are some questions on the exam that do not include brand names. Examples include drugs that have been on the market so long that the generic names are better recognized than any brand names, or the specific brand is no longer being sold. No brand names will appear on the exam without generic names. For example, we will have amitriptyline without a brand name because Elavil is off the market, but we would never have Prozac listed on its own without its generic, fluoxetine.
