PAEA subject matter experts consider many of the commonly accepted published guidelines during the writing and multi-level peer-review process of all exam items. The exams are written and reviewed by PA educators from around the country. These content experts consider current best practices when writing and reviewing items. They also consider potentially conflicting guidelines. This ensures that the exam items best reflect the information students should know.
If there are competing standards, the question will recognize the source of the guideline in the text. As a general rule, questions will fall firmly within the guideline range, rather than on a borderline between treatment options.
