PACKRAT – This exam was designed as a self-assessment for students, meaning it is not intended to have a defined pass or fail score, rather a student’s self-diagnostic. Due to this, there is no restriction for rescheduling a PACKRAT retake. The previous version will be available as a backup, and students will be scheduled for the most recent exam they haven't seen. There is also no restriction from taking an additional PACKRAT once a student has already taken two forms. With that said, we caution programs from interpreting these scores too strongly, since the student is likely to have seen the exact items before.
End of Rotation - Students can take all available forms (three Family Medicine forms, two for all others) for the first time in accordance with program policy. After all forms have been given once, they must wait 30 days to allow for remediation before they will be eligible for additional resits.
The first form is randomly assigned to all students, and when taking it a second or third time they are assigned a form they have not seen before.
End of Curriculum - There must be a 60-day waiting period between exams for remediation. Once the student has taken both available forms, there will be no additional retakes allowed.
Keep in mind the Assessment Center does not give programs the ability to invalidate an exam’s results. Programs will also need to use additional exam credits for these retakes or purchase more credits if required.
